He claims the purpose of food is to actually dilute stomach acids and pure water is the best for that, and he's probably right given his premise.

Ok, I'm kidding. We don't know a Garrett and he doesn't have a pony tail less than an inch long in his Asheville greying hair.

Myself, I'm a Ovo-Lacto-Carne-pescetarian. I restrict my diet to things that tend to grow larger over time. That is to say, I'm an omnivore. I'm not afraid of eating things with a face. I prefer to keep the volume small and the killing down, but I feel that humans have always been an eat-as-eating-can kind of group and it's why we have canine teeth. For a little bit of sinew rending. I admire people who choose to be vegetarian or even vegan, but I don't myself tape up my mouth as do some oriental Buddhist monks in order to inhale no insects accidently and kill them thereby (therebywhichtofor?). So I'm a middle of the road eater, even if it's on the side of the road.

I do like Indian food and Helen and Anu and Gopalo and I went to Laughing Seed and enjoyed it immensely. Well, except for the hippy next to us who must've been protesting the use of soap. Now, I'll go a day (or two on the weekend) without a shower, but this was real protest. Sour protest. It was overpowering only when I was down wind so I did manage to enjoy my meal. Anyway, the point was that I've been much more conscious of my eating and portions and have gotten myself below 200 lbs and working myself down to a healthy weight. Better living thru better eating, I say.

My main purpose for quitting meat and fowl wasn't because I have carnivore teeth and chose them to chew vegetables, rather it was because of a lack of trust. I worked with a guy who raised pigs, and this bastard would think nothing of butchering a sickly pig, and selling the meat. Multiply him by hundreds, and eat in peace. One other thing that should be considered is the chemicals used to fatten and protect the livestock. Lets take another for instance on the old farmstead-lets say a cow found a spilled bag of pesticide and ate some of the contents, and died. Lets say the farmer who had invested a good amount of money to fatten and medicate this animal was a good friend of the local slaughter house owner, in fact even went to the same church. I think you can take it from there. I have know too many young people who have suddenly been diagnosed with cancer with no family history of the disease and think about stuff like this. I don't put money in the stock markets either, for the same lack of trust. Think on these things, and bon appetit.
